Which mattress to choose

When customers walk into the store and I ask if I can help them, sometimes I can see the fear in their eyes, like a rabbit caught in a car's headlights.  Sometimes they tell me "that they are just looking."  At this point its fair to say that they have probably been to the nearest retail park where they have spent 20 minutes avoiding a usually persistent young sales person intent on selling them their latest unbelievable fantastic 50% OFF never to be repeated' offer in order to get his big fat commission, until next week that is and it's always a non-catalog model, of course, so you are unable to compare prices.
At our store here in small town Clitheroe, Lancashire, we get a lot of repeat customers and the business survives mainly due thanks to our satisfied loyal customer base.  This is especially important for us to maintain as it is all to easy to quickly loose a good reputation which has been built over many years, a reputation based on good customer service and quality products at competitive prices.

1st When choosing a mattress make sure its got good support.
Checking your base.
When choosing a mattress first consider the type of base you intend to use with the mattress.  It would be good idea to double check your own base for faults if you intend to use it.
Platform divan bases should be checked that the base is nice and flat and has not sunk in any way (no need for a spirit level) and that there are no soft spots that are likely to sink under pressure.
Sprung edge & Firm Edge bases should be inspected for sagging or soft spots by running your hand over the bed base lid with a modicum of pressure (these type of  bases tend to have a long life but they do also make excellent trampolines and may have been used for that purpose by the kids or grandkids when your back was turned).
Slatted bases & Sprung Slatted bases check that none of the slats have been broken or that they have come loose and need to be refastened.

Please do check your base as this may be the reason for your old mattress becoming uncomfortable. I have seen on many occasions when installing a new mattress that the base is not providing the correct support and is in need of repair, when I've pointed it out to the customer they just think that I'm trying to increase our sales.  This is not the case at all, the point is that if you buy a mattress from our store I want it to be as comfortable as possible for you and that you will hopefully recommend us to friends and family.  We'd like to avoid you ringing our store  six months later complaining that your mattress has sunk to the same shape as the old one.  Which is what will happen if your base is faulty. If you're on a very tight budget and your a bit of a handyman I would recommend a trip down to your local wood yard to obtain the necessities in repairing your bed base and as for metal beds they are usually quite robust and generally don't fail that often. But if it has you'll either have to go to the local hardware store for nuts and bolts and for the more serious faults a welding course at night school maybe  necessary to fix them! (please try not to burn the house down)

Once you know what type of base you are going to use and that it is in good order you can now proceed with confidence in choosing your new mattress.

The best mattress.

When searching for the best mattress for your budget, it is important to remember is that mattresses are largely a matter of personal preference. There is no single type of mattress or bed that works well for all people, and there is no best mattress for health related problems like back problems. Likewise, there is no single sleep position known to be best for all people. The bottom line is that the type of mattress that is best for any particular person is really a matter of personal preference but I will endeavor to enlighten you.

The Cost
The basic rule is to spend as much as you can afford (YES  I KNOW I WAS BOUND TO SAY THAT) . Of course, there are some perfectly acceptable lower priced mattresses around, which will be far preferable to an unhygienic second-hand bed shaped to someone else's body and sleeping positions. But generally, the more expensive the bed, the better the construction and the more fillings they have and therefore be more durable and give better support and comfort. I would also like to add that I would also recommend that you checkout the express delivery Items because these are featured and are on display in our store which are availble to be tested by you the customer and  represent excellent value for money in their respected catagory.
